English term or phrase: with thousand yard stares
How would you translate "with thousand-yard stares" into Farsi?

I remember they showed Marlon Brandon in the “Wild One” before we went on, so we were all juiced up for
some kind of riot! What actually happened was about 150 people with thousand yard stares stood stock-still,
stunned at the power at the noise of the band – we were fu*ing angry!

neutral  Fatemeh Khansalar: Although this sounds good, what about the next part of the sentence: 'stood stock-still'? we have to use different translation here, otherwise we may miss a part of the sentence.

-> The whole phrase should be translated in different ways and I suggest خشکشان زده بود و یارای پیشروی نداشتند. When we say خشکش زد, we mean they seem to be looking constantly at something far away.

صدوپنجاه نفر با نگاه خیره‌ی بهت‌زده، درجا خشکیده بودند،

Explanation:
نگاه خیره‌ دراثر حادثه‌ای ترس‌آور
نگاه خیره‌ی بهت‌زده سربازان و قربانیان در جنگ، زلزله و دیگر مصائب
A battlefield syndrome in which a soldier may become lost in thought due to stress from the fight. The 1000 Yard Stare is named such because the soldier may seem to be focusing on an object very far away, and may even become unresponsive to external stimuli. The phrase was coined during the Vietnam war.
