English term or phrase: cirque lakes
A cirque usually forms at the head of a glacial valley. On the upper slopes of mountains winds blow snow into deep drifts. As snow continues accumulation in the basin it is converted to glacial ice forming a cirque glacier. Several cirques may form around the same mountain at the same time.
