Actually it refers to a sealant which acts to prevent pipes leaking. It also enjoys the property of anti-corrosion. The component seemingly is acts like a TEFLON tape to fill the voids and does not solidify, thus making the process of disassembly easier.
I personally prefer خمیر درزگیر لوله because it doesn't solidify and is like a paste.
