English term or phrase: Fraction
Analysis Fractions - analysis fractions are similar to preparation products, but they exist lower down in the analytical chain. Although multiple fractions are seldom used in minerals analysis, every analysis code must have at least one analysis fraction.

Analysis fractions are used to subdivide aliquots within a laboratory job. They are most often used on organic extractions and are seldom used in minerals analysis. Notwithstanding this, every aliquot in a lab must have at least one analysis fraction, so every analysis code should have a minimum of one fraction defined for it.

Above texts are from a manual for mining sample software.
