I am slightly puzzled by the choice of verb here, and so I would encourage you to check carefully with your wider context exactly what is going on here.
In many technical fields, one would blank off a space where a piece of equipment is absent; if a piece of equipment is present, one would more likely talk about 'fitting a cover' or something like that; it strikes me as a technically slightly odd notion to 'blank off' a piece of equipment that might need to be used.
