Hello everyone,

I've been trying to translate the phrase "it's in the noise" but I'm finding little help on the usual tool, Google, and through my network. It is from a detailed but general public press article on SpaceX and its work.
I found that it could be an "uncertainty" for a measuring tool, but context is different here and doesn't apply to other examples I found. I found other examples where it would be used meaning "it's not significant". I'm still confused. Any hints ? Certain answers ?

“[Defense department customers] don’t care whether [the launch cost] is $100 million or $300 million; it’s in the noise. What they want is a guarantee it’s going to work.”

My guess would be :

« [Le ministère de la Défense] se fiche de savoir si [le lancement coute] 100 millions ou 300 millions de dollars ; ca fait partie du jeu/ de la marge de manoeuvre/ d'erreur." Ce que ce type de client cherche, c’est la garantit que le produit va marcher. »

ou bien

« [Le ministère de la Défense] se fiche de savoir si [le lancement coute] 100 millions ou 300 millions de dollars ; peu leur importe/ ca n'a pas d'importance/ pour eux, c'est dérisoire." Ce que ce type de client cherche, c’est la garantit que le produit va marcher. »
