English term or phrase: peegees
"It was one of the paradoxes of physics that, in order to build up and maintain an antigravitational field outside the ship, the internal gravitation had to be increased by a corresponding amount. Custom was to lift off at an acceleration exactly equal and opposite to that of the planet they were on, requiring a rate of minus two planetary gees, or peegees—one to exactly counter the planet’s own pull and one to thrust against it. Other factors entered into the calculations as well, most notably the velocity vector contributed by the planet’s own rotation, which Bakori had to compute as a function of launch site latitude."

Asker: Cohérent en fonction de la question précédente et de votre réponse. Effectivement, il y a des néologismes dans ce livre, mais également des termes pointus comme "astrogation" et son dérivé "astrogateur", l' "impesanteur", etc.

agree  B D Finch: "Peegee" is such a catchy term that it's a shame not to have a French version; may I suggest "geaipai"?
