Vaseline is put on the terminal surface as lead would be corroded by the battery acid. This is one only exception.
Electrical conductors like copper, aluminium, galvanized steel need not to be protected against rust. All these metals are protected against oxidation by its oxide layers. Carbon steel must be protected with layers of zinc or nickel or cement, but is not used for electrical installations, except for concrete reinforcement, where the reinforcement mat constitutes parts of the earthing system, protected by the basic cement environment against corrosion. BTW: The "ERI710160 BORNE DE TERRE 500-10-E-BOSS" consist of stainless steel and must not be protected. Hence, the instruction "Apply dry-to-touch oil on earth boss to prevent rust" is strange as stainless steel do not rust, except if welded to carbon steel parts.
