I think it might be; calling it a 'woofer' in the first place is highly misleading, and smacks of a marketing copywriter who hasn't a clue about the actual technology.
I'd like to keep 'bass' in there somewhere, since the distinction they are making is between the full-range actual speaker and the passive radiator, which exists only to enhance the bass.

But, given your note about "passive bass radiator", wouldn't a more suitable translation actually be "Radiateur passif" ?

I think we talk about 'graves', don't we?
And do note that it is NOT an actual 'caisson' (i.e. a true 'subwoofer') — this is just an auxiliary passive radiator (i.e. doesn't have any electrical drive) that is used to enhance the bass; it's an old 'cheat' well known in the '70s on hifi speakers, look up things like 'bnas radiator' or 'passive radiator' for details on conventional speaker systems.

PS: I note that both 'basses' and 'graves' are used.
