English term or phrase: easing / easing in and out
I am translating a document on creating animation in 3D games. I've come across Easing - Easing in and Easing out - in the context of Animation which is the process of creating motion and shape so that the games move in a realistic and appealing fashion. Here is the sentence: 'Easing, on the other hand, is the amalgamation of acceleration, top-speed, fluctuations in speed and deceleration.'
'Ease in is when the animation builds up to a maximum speed.'
'Ease out is the opposite: something starts fast and slows at the end.'

I think 'Ease in' means 'Accélération' in French and 'Ease out' 'Décélération'. But for 'Easing' I am stuck! Could it be 'relâchement'?

Thanks for your help!

Explanation:
Easing modifies how the animation starts by accelerating and finishes by slowing down.
