in the plural usually means the probability ratio on which you bet; so odds of 2 to 1 mean you have a one in two chance of winning; in most cases, where betting is concerned, this ends up being 'the amount you win if the outcome wagered occurs' — so if I place a €1 bet on a horse quoted at odds of 2:1, and the horse wins, then I will get €2.
I think this sort of makes sense in your context, since 1.5 would be a plausible figure; but I hasten to add I am not a gambler, and so don't really know what they are getting at here! |
