On évoque la troisième bataille d'Ypres. Je ne saisis pas le sens de la première phrase :
"***As the Welsh regiment moved off, they took casualties from the very beginning.*** In normal trench warfare, you are actually down below ground level. The big risk to you is shellfire, shell splinters, shrapnel. And certainly many men who were then killed either simply drowned in the mud or actually just fall into the mud itself and are lost."

sorry not to have made a better attempt to translate this - I simply figured that you didn't understand "take casualties" because you were thinking of "take prisoners" or something, and that once you knew that, then the rest would "couler de source"
