decisions 18:15 Dec 18, 2013
You couldn't really use 'si l'on décide que...', since this appears to be a 'decision' being taken by the automatic systems within the camera, which I hardly feel can be stretched to 'on', can they?
You might do well to try and get away from 'décision' completely, since it is a measurement and comparison to a threshold. No human decision-making... The point is, many autofocus (and other similar) systems use a progressive 'homing-in' process, hence why a succession of decisions is needed, and why it is important to make that clear. So it seems part of this 'successive approximation' process is to compare the change in focus to these various thresholds, and to further adjust the focus accordingly.
One of the problems faced by all autofocus systems is not only measuring how out of focus the image is (quite an art in itself!), but also in which direction ('backwards' or 'forwards'); current techniques usually involve making a change in one direction, and seeing if the result is better or worse; but these successive attempts are long-winded and take time, so a more intelligent system will be welcome. |
