-------------------------------------------------- Note added at 4 hrs (2017-01-10 14:56:53 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- POSTES COMPTABLES PRORATA TEMPORIS = some expense or revenue items can be taxable or deductible on a certain tax reporting period which will differ from the book reporting period. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 6 hrs (2017-01-10 17:11:31 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Erratum: POSTES COMPTABLES DéTERMINéS PRORATA TEMPORIS instead of 'postes comptables prorate temporis' -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 12 hrs (2017-01-10 23:05:07 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Item = Poste ou rubrique comptable = une ligne d'enrtegistrement comptable.

...A temporary difference (i.e., timing difference) is one for which there are period-to-period differences between tax and GAAP income which are fully offset (i.e., reversed) over the lifetime of the item giving rise to the difference... http://www.actuaries.ca/members/publications/2012/212096f.pd... http://www.actuaries.ca/members/publications/2012/212096f.pd... ...although a corporation may be reducing its current tax expense… the corporation will become liable for tax in a future period when the timing item "reverses" (i.e., when the item is expensed for book purposes but for which the tax deduction had already been allowed)… ftp://read.gov/pub/thomas/cp104/sr279.txt Les composantes de la charge (produit) d'impôt peuvent comprendre : a) la charge (produit) d'impôt exigible ;… e) le montant de l'avantage résultant d'une perte fiscale, d'un crédit d'impôt ou d'une différence temporaire au titre d'une période antérieure, non comptabilisé précédemment, qui est utilisé pour réduire la charge d'impôt exigible;… Components of tax expense (income) may include: (a) current tax expense (income);… (e) the amount of the benefit arising from a previously unrecognised tax loss, tax credit or temporary difference of a prior period that is used to reduce current tax expense;… |

Reference: Timing item et Timing differences Reference information: Timing Item Reconciling items that are timing in nature are those items that reconcile between supporting data, such as trial balances, and the amount recorded in the General Ledger, but by their nature do not require an adjustment of the balance in the General Ledger. These items would normally correct themselves as the normal course of business events eventually occurs. An example of a timing item would be cash received for accounts receivable that has not been posted to the detailed accounts receivable trial balance. Any cash received prior to a period end cut-off would be posted to the General Ledger as a reduction of the Accounts Receivable balance. If the cash received has not been posted to the detailed accounts receivable trial balance, then the accounts receivable trial balance is higher than the General Ledger balance. The General Ledger balance, however, is correctly stated. Such cash would be shown as a reconciling item, but would not result in an adjustment. The item should self clear at the time the cash receipt is processed in the accounts receivable system… http://www.recwizard.com/recwizardhelp/reconitemtype.htm Temporary (or timing) differences Temporary (or timing) differences between book income versus taxable income are due to items of revenue or expense that are recognized in one period for taxes, but in a different period for the books. Book recognition can come before or after tax recognition. These revenue and expense items cause a timing difference between the two incomes, but over the "long run", they cause no difference between the two incomes. http://www.investopedia.com/exam-guide/cfa-level-1/liabiliti... |
