je n'ai jamais refusé de le gratifier de mon corps Explanation: This is my idea. This is obviously a Victorian ( or even older ) text , when it was very offensive to refuse the sexual obligations for the husband. Women, i.e. wives had to be humble, pliable and obedient. ( puritan moral ) Since we already have " that I have never been unfaithful to my lord and husband " preceding it, it's another reason to believe that this portion of the text is not related to adultery, sexual sin or similar. Ideally, this sentence should be written in the style of 19. century French. |
