It might help a bit to know what comes next, afetr "pan...", since I suspect it may really mean "...limit-switch-controlled pan" — i.e. is is the pan that is controlled by the limit switch, or else, that it is the pan that provides the mechanical effect (for example: tilts when weight of feed in it is too great) All this extra information os probably going to be vital in unravelling this one correctly.
