Another thing to do is make sure we are using REALITY thinking instead of UN-REALITY Thinking. That’s the kind of thinking that takes a situation and creates all kinds of un-realistic and usually negative perceptions about it. Here are some common examples of UN-Reality thinking:

Mind Reading: This one happens when you assume you know the reasons why others act as they do. You don’t know the reasons, unless they tell you, so don’t jump to conclusions. Making assumptions has created many a disaster in history.

Pensée réaliste / Pensée non réaliste (ou éloignée de la réalité)


Explanation:
Reality thinking is the discipline of seeing things as they are and not as they might appear to be. So we can assume that we are looking into the opposition between thinking of something as it really appears (as it really is, exists etc) and something that is not faithful to reality (think about an Iceberg for example).

As mentioned in the previous post, it is hard to find such a pair in French.

But in this case anything such as :
Pensée réaliste/Pensée non réaliste (ou éloignée de la réalité)
will do.
