English to French translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical: Health Care / arthritis/bones
English term or phrase: spot weld
Short humeral stems rely on proximal fixation, and their size should be selected to ensure optimal canal filling, avoiding bone remodeling (due to oversizing) or insufficient primary fixation (due to undersizing).
In their anatomic and reverse shoulder arthroplasty series, Schnetzke et al. and Goetzman et al. reported that, at 2-year follow-up, greater canal filling was associated with stress shielding (condensation lines, cortical bone resorption and spot welds).

The definition of these spot welds is "Focal treatment to local reemergent lesions" or at least that is what I found in a medical text.

I would appreciate your expert translation suggestions!

arthrodèse

Explanation:
Hill et al. 18 introduced the term “spot weld” in referring to fusion of triple arthrodesis in his series, and indeed, partial fusion of the joint arthrodesis may be suffi- cient. A more extensive study of this question is necessary to determine the amount of fusion necessary to qualify as a successful fusion.
