I don't think there is any issue to clear up either — but Asker appears to think there is!
Howevern I don't totally agree about 'code' — sometimes this is used for simply a number, where that number represents a certain meaning, like, for example, the date and time the batch was produced; it may or may not have anything more of a 'code' about it that that, but I would tend to expect to find 'numéro' in FR unless (or indeed sometimes even if) it contained letters as well.

Except that I don't think there is any issue to "clear up". A batch code isn't a "numéro de série" and a code isn't a "numéro", because it contains information other than or in addition to numerical information.

It's very important not to confuse 'serial no.' (a unique number individual to every single item) and a 'batch no.' (a number or code referring to a whole batch of products that were made together)
Very small items may not necessarily have an individual serial no., simply an indication of which batch they came from (e.g. for traceability in the event of a fault's being discovered)
So the terms canot be regarded as interchangeable in the way you seem to be suggesting, and you need to proceed with great caution here.
Your wider context might tell you if in fact there is ALSO a 'serial no.', which wil immediately clear up the issue; otherwise, consutling the manufacturer's website or even phoning the manufacturer might confirm for you one way or another.

Merci pour vos réponses, je tiens à préciser qu'il s'agit d'un appareil médical et non d'un médicament c'est pour ça que la notion de "lot" semble étrange. Je pensais que "numéro de série" serait plus appropriée en fait.
