It's hardly really possible to have a glass that will guarantee faithful colour reproduction... it would be a pretty poor lens if it didn't!

I think here what we are concerned with is colour reproduction that matches between the various members of a family of lenses. This is why that extra context is so important!

Zoom lens... NOW it makes sense! Is this document also talking about (e.g.) prime lenses from the same manufacturer? I think this may be referring to the fact that the zoom lenses have identical colour rendering to the prime lenses (difficult to achieve, since zooms have a lot more glassware in them!)

Does this make sense from your overall context?

@ Kashew: I think you're barking up the wrong tree there, J. First of all, I don't think we're talking about the actual mounts (lens mounts don't usually have 'glass'!), but rather about 'PL mount lenses'

I suspect PL might originally have been Prime Lens, and maybe they're saying that zoom lenses made to fit prime lens mounts (and therefore interchangeable) have matching glassware so they can be truly considered 'interchangeable'. The only way to make sure they were not interchanged would of course be to give them incompatible mounts...

Or is it colour-matched glass in the mounts?
