OK, from what you say then, this does indeed seem to be some kind of image enhancement software...

Each publisher finds themselves obliged to invent their own terminology, in order to be in a position to copyright it and to avoid infringing other's copyright.

So I would say this is an in-house term, and depending on the way the rest of their software has been localized (or not!), probably/possibly ought not to be translated; can you get sight of the GUI for the software in FR? I have encountered exactly this problem with one of my customers, who were pioneers in this field, so a lot of their terminology has been 'invented' by me (and is now widely used in the field!); but in many case, with 'proprietary' terminology (as this almost certainly is), the decision was made to keep the EN term even in the localized versions of the software.

Note that 'modulation' is central here; if you choose to translate after all, IMHO it is the key term to retain; in optics (and other fields too, of course), we talk about 'modulation transfer function (MTF)' (qv for some ideas!) as one performance criterion.

The sentence reads as follows : "In addition, utilizing the enhanced performance of the EXR Processor II, Lens Modulation Optimizer (LMO) factors are calculated to compensate for aberrations and diffraction blur that occur when light passes through the lens and then are applied to produce images with amazing sharpness." My first tanslation : En outre, en utilisant les performances améliorées du processeur EXR II, les **LMO factors** sont calculés pour compenser les aberrations et le flou par diffraction occasionnés par le passage de la lumière au travers de l’objectif puis appliqués pour produire des images d'une netteté étonnante.

This sounds as if it might possibly be from some kind of digital image enhancement software, for example?

If so, then I suspect this may well be an in-house invented jargon term, and you may well be the first person to translate it!
