in other words, I don't think it's so simple as it may seem.

"Barefoot beach", looking at the prima facie meaning, would simply be a beach where you can walk barefooted, the most likely candidate for that being "plage de sable fin"

BUT why not simply say in English "fine sand beach"?

What is "barefoot" supposed to convey? Certainly not that this beach is meant for Victor Hugo's "les va-nu-pieds" from the 19th and previous centuries. (I can hardly image someone putting that in a text meant to attract tourists, even if it's aimed at some weird special-interest group)

It's more that you can enjoy a relaxed and direct contact with nature, that you can walk on something pleasant to feel under your feet. Which is close to the idea of "barefooted luxury", the wording used in other promotional material.

OTOH how to put in French? Right now, no idea.

C’est « barefoot » dans le sens de « pieds nus », les anglophones pourraient nous éclairer là-dessus.
