Bonjour,

je traduis un texte parlant de pêcheurs d'éponges ("sponge diving"). Ils expliquent comment après avoir attraper les éponges, ils les font sécher, puis les rincent pour les nettoyer et enlever un liquide marron appelé "gurry".

"There is animal matter decomposing and it leaks out in like a milk form, we call it gurry".

J'ai trouvé que "gurry" pouvait se traduire par "déchets de poisson", mais je ne pense pas que cela puisse convenir dans ce contexte. Auriez-vous une idée ?

It's clearly part of the private jargon of this sponge diving community. If they were more international in their use of langage, they might have called it 'gunge'. But that wouldn't make it any easier to translate...

I suggest you leave it in quasi-English, 'twixt quotes: "gurry".

It's clearly part of the private jargon of this sponge diving community. If they were more international in their use of langage, they might have called it 'gunge'. But that wouldn't make it any easier to translate...
