German translation: Tropfenabscheider

English to German translations [PRO]
Science - Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng / reactive chemicals
English term or phrase: taffy pot
"A major event occurred when a chlorine "taffy pot" exploded. Perchloroethylene/hexachlorobutadiene backed up into the pot and reacted with chlorine."

German translation:Tropfenabscheider
Explanation:
It took a little research to get there (see below!), but I think this might be a "Tropfenabscheider".

“The Taffy Pot 3-Sep-99 02:53 pm

Good story about the KO Pot. Seems to me there was a "Taffy Pot" just like that in the Chlorine process. Boy he spread himself around, didn't he?”

2.

KO pot seems to stand for “knock-out pot”:

"The red dot on the Knock Out Pot (separator) represents the liquid outlet and the yellow dot represents the vapour outlet."
"Pipe (-3 connecting the plate exchanger to the KO Pot) 60m in length and an inside diameter of 50.8 mm"

3.

"Industry:
 A "knock-out pot" or "knock-out drum" refers to a vapor-liquid separator"

http://dictionary.sensagent.com/knockout (disambiguation)/en...

4.

“A vapor–liquid separator may also be referred to as a flash drum, knock-out drum, knock-out pot, compressor suction drum or compressor inlet drum.”

When used to remove suspended water droplets from streams of air, a vapor-liquid separator is often called a demister.

5.

6.

The reference to "Prozessgasen" under point 5. could indicate the "chlorine process" referred to at the start.

Sumpffraktion

Explanation:
