Ich denke, in unserem Fall geht es nicht um ein System, sondern um ein Produkt, also ein Gerät (Geräte). Wikipedia erwähnt in diesem Zusammenhang "TCO of a product OR system". Der Kontext gibt uns solche Angaben wie "time and space savings"(platzsparende Ausstattung), was wiederum auf den Geräteinsatz hindeutet.

Nein, nicht "weitere Vorteile". Wenn man das "further" als Adjektiv zu "benefits" liest, ergibt der Satz ja gar keinen Sinn, denn Kosten sind niemals Vorteile. Man muss das "further" als Adverb (= außerdem) zu "taking into account" lesen. Ob das im AT die korrekte Wortstellung ist, dürfen die Muttersprachler sagen. ;-)

Eben, es geht um alle Kosten. Geräteeinsatz bedeutet in unserem Kontext, die Geräte zu kaufen, zu mieten oder herzustellen und sie dann zu benutzen. ("Die Deutsche Post hat den Einsatz von Elektro-LKWs beschlossen", nicht "hat die Nutzung beschlossen").

"Geräte-/Ausstattungskosten" ist dagegen unklar, man könnte es auch als auf die Anschaffung oder auf die direkten Betriebskosten beschränkt betrachten.

Ich denke aber, es geht sowohl um den Kauf der jeweiligen Geräte als auch um ihre Nutzung/den Einsatz.

Ich würde "mit dem Geräteeinsatz verbundene direkte und indirekte Kosten" schreiben, das ist weder falsch noch schränkt es unzulässig ein. Und es ist genau das, was in dem Satz gemeint ist: Man soll nicht nur (mit Tunnelblick) auf die Kosten sehen, sondern auch auf den Nutzen. Also sind alle Kosten gemeint, z. B. auch Personal-, Raum- und Energiekosten.

Ich würde es so neutral formulieren.
Bei Instrumentenkosten fällt mir als erstes immer ein Musikverein ein :-)

Total value of ownership beschreibt den Gesamtwert von Investitionen, wobei zusätzlich zu den Gesamtbetriebskosten (Total cost of ownership) auch sonstige Vorteile, die eine Investition bietet, berücksichtigt werden.

Das heißt, es werden nicht nur die Kosten miteinander verglichen, sondern auch der geschäftliche Nutzen. Insofern ist dies mit Lebenszykluskostenrechnung (Life-Cycle-Costing, LCC) vergleichbar. Leider konnte ich anders als bei TCO keine deutsche Übersetzung für TVO finden und habe es deshalb sinngemäß interpretiert.

Rolf hat zu Recht beanstandet, dass Kosten keine Vorteile sind, wie man meine Formulierung missverstehen kann. Ich ändere sie deshalb wie folgt:
