English to German translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Furniture / Household Appliances
English term or phrase:non-shipping
It was the first time the company presented non-shipping appliances at the trade fair.
That's what I was wondering. I'd find it funny, though, if the word "appliances" was used here to actually refer to "non-shipping products" as in software for home automation (the "Vernetzung" from Ute's explanation). We'll see.
I think it's not the products which are new, but the website. The new website features the already existing products. An interactive website in my opinion is more than just Grafiken/Abbildungen/Bilder, but I do not really know, if I am correct. So lets go on tossing ideas around ;-)
What do you think about "Beispielgrafiken/abbildungen/bilder" or even "Produktideen"? As shown in my reference entry, these products may not even exist yet or they may only be in the prototype stage.
I know that's why I simply asked for it in a discussion post. In my opinion, "virtual products" would be even more ambiguous because these are usually products created online - hence, virtual. As "virtuelle Waren" they can even be found in legal questions (else, I would have probably supported your answer).
However, I am also not that satisifed to simply term it "nicht am Markt verfügbar" as Alexander did. Trying to figure out whether "Produktbeispiele" or "Produktskizzen" would work. The importance of the entire text is on the website mockup, not on the products, as I understand it. I am not even sure it's simply to test the response to the products or to test the response to the website (and the products are quite irrelevant), even though Ute's statement of the "website mockup" suggests the latter.
"Produktillustrationen | Wir zeichnen Ihre Produkte für Ihre Webseite
Austria: Produktillustrationen, wir zeichnen Ihre Produkte am PC. Egal ob exklusiv, niedlich, seriös oder detailgetreu. Computerzeichnungen Ihrer Produkte ganz nach Kundenwunsch."
Please see the reference entry. What about "Zum ersten Mal wartete das Unternehmen auf der Messe lediglich mit Produktillustrationen auf."? Wouldn't that fit the context of a (graphic) website presentation?

The intention of websites is to sell and ship products to customers. So "non-shipping" here too would be products that are not available for delivery - i.e. advance presentations to the market for testing response at a trade fair.
Was macht das Unternehmen normalerweise/hauptsächlich?

Explanation: Your choice, depending on how you translate the rest of the text.
