Additional information Explanation: I've really no clue, but I found this here, which may help other would-be answerers: A "gomer" bull (also called a "spotter" bull) is an intact male that has undergone a penile deviation, penile removal, or vasectomy to render him incapable of physically breeding cows. You can use any breed of bull for this job; however, do not use large, heavy bulls because they can injure young heifers or small cows when they mount them. Many producers use a Jersey bull because of its small size. Be aware that any breed of bull, particularly dairy bulls, can become aggressive and need to be handled with caution. Gomer bulls do make good heat detection aids because they are naturally adept at identifying cows in heat. http://msucares.com/pubs/publications/p2209.htm All about castrated animals: Rind gekalbt habendes: Kuh, Starke, Muttertier noch nicht gekalbt habendes: Färse, Kalbe, Kalbin, Sterke, Kuhkalb, Motschkalb (landsch.), Mockel (landsch.), Meisenkalb (landsch.), Diesenkalb (landsch.) männliches: Bulle (bes. nordd.), Stier, Farre, Farren besonders zur Zucht verwendetes: Zuchtbulle, Zuchtstier, Hagen, Muni (schweiz.) verschnittenes männliches: Ochse, Ochs (bes. südd., österr.) junges: Jungtier, Kalb; http://www.wer-weiss-was.de/theme143/article2641416.html |
