... I would point out that "unterschwellig" means "subliminal", which is "below the threshold of conscious perception". The classic example of a subliminal message in psychology is flashing the words "eat popcorn" or "eat ice cream" on the screen so fleetingly that the audience isn't aware of having seen them. The "nudges" in this text are certainly subtle, but the are not subliminal - they just take a bit of thought and awareness for people to notice them.

Another difference is that subliminal messages are all about influencing people's decision-making, but "nudges" may steer people's behaviour without requiring them to make decisions at all - such as the default rules that specify that X happens if the individual takes no action.
