English term or phrase: servant of God's purpose
What was the term used in the Bible for a person who was a servant of God's purpose?
Wouter Koekemoer
Hebrew translation:עבד אלוהים / עבד האלוהים
Explanation:
revelations 15:3 "Moses a servant of god"
"משה עבד אלהים"
Moses is also called that way in at least 2 more places in the bible (Daniel 9:11, Nehemiah 10:29)
Also see Psalm 36:1 "Of David the servant of the LORD"
"לעבד-יהוה לדוד"

Note that these are all recurrences of "servant of god". "Servant of god`s purpose/will" simply doesn't appear in the bible (or new testament).

neutral  Sandra & Kenneth Grossman: I haven't found this in the Tanach (Mechon Mamre). The only כלי שרת were Temple utensils.מְשָׁרְתֵי אֱלֹ is not כלי שרת and has nothing to do w. servant of God's purpose. The Tanach is the Bible (incl.Prophets). The New Testament is not a Hebrew source.

  -> It's not from the bible. It's based on Isaiah 61; 10 וְאַתֶּם, כֹּהֲנֵי יְהוָה תִּקָּרֵאוּ--מְשָׁרְתֵי אֱלֹהֵינוּ, יֵאָמֵר לָכֶם; and on Luke's interpretation of this saying.

neutral  Wouterk: Does this mean that "servant of god's purpose" is the same as sharath 'elohiym "Ministers of our God"?
