AesA kyo(n) hai? Explanation: (n) denotes nasal sound of (N). Log merry christmas hi kyo(N) kehte hai(n), ve happy christmas kyo(n) nahee(n) kehte. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 8 mins (2004-12-25 17:49:07 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Another alternative: Log happy christmas nA kehkar merry christmas hi kyo(n) kehte hai(n). -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 11 hrs 0 min (2004-12-26 04:41:39 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- It has rightly been pointed by one of my colleagues that your question is not clear. Whether you are looking for the translation of the phrase and sentence mentioned by you or do you want to have your question answered? Please note that this forum is primarily meant for seeking help in respect of complicated or typical expressions which are encountered during the course of translation and if you want to have detailed information in respect of some linguistic issue, you may post the same as a topic on this site for which you should be a member of the same. Anyway, I think that the issue of happy versus merry relates to the British versus American usage. It would be very unusual to hear an American say \"Happy Christmas\" to another American. The common expression in the US is \"Merry Christmas.\" But I believe British speakers use both expressions, i.e. Happy Christmas and Merry Christmas and Happy Christmas is more usual in Britain. Hence, both expressions are in vogue and there is nothing wrong happy christmas as well. In fact, I have got 5830000 google hits for merry christmas in comparison to 15900000 for happy christmas! -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 12 hrs 13 mins (2004-12-26 05:54:23 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Typo : Please read \"nothing wrong *with* happy christmas\" in place of \"nothing wrong happy christmas\". |
