जिन लोगों ने सिर्फ लिए और किए को ठीक बताया है, मैं उनकी जानकारी के लिए बता देना चाहता हूं कि लिए और लिये तथा किए और किये दोनों ही ठीक हैं। पाणिनी सूत्रों के आधार पर निर्धारित संस्कृत और हिंदी व्याकरण में किसी भी वर्ण पर आ, इ, ई, उ, ऊ, ए, ऐ, ओ तथा औ की मात्रा लगाई (लगायी) जा सकती है। इसमें कोई हर्ज या दोष नहीं है। कुछ शब्दों का मानकीकरण कर दिया गया है और उन्हें उच्चारण आधार पर तथा टंकण की सुविधा की दृष्टि से एक नया रूप दे दिया गया है लेकिन इससे उसका मौलिक और मूल स्वरूप न तो गलत हो जाता है और न ही अमान्य। उदाहरण के लिए संस्कृत में गङ्गा (ग, ङ् तथा ङ् के पैर में गा भी) लिखा जाता है और इसका मानकीकृत रूप है गंगा। लेकिन गंगा लिख लेने से उसका मौलिक स्वरूप अमान्य नहीं हो जाता। आम जनता, साहित्यकार एवं अन्य लोग बाध्य नहीं हैं कि संस्कृत के मौलिक शब्द न लिखे जाएं। हां, मानकीकरण की दृश्टि से और टाइपिंग में सुविधा की दृश्टि से ऐसा किया जाता है और किया जाना चाहिए।
दरअसल, हमारी हिंदी ध्वन्यात्मक यानि फोनेटिक है जिसका अर्थ यह है कि इसमें जैसा लिखा जाता है, वैसा पढ़ा जाता है और जैसा बोला जाता है, वैसा लिखा जाता है। लेकिन मुखसुख तथा कुछ अन्य उच्चारण दोशों के कारण कुछ शब्दों के उच्चारण में अंतर आ गया है, अत: ऐसे शब्दों में ध्वन्यात्मकता को बनाए रखने के लिए, टंकण की सुविधा और मानकीकरण की दृष्टि से कुछ शब्दों का मानकीकरण कर दिया गया है। सरकारी स्तर पर इस्तेमाल की जाने वाली राजभाशा हिंदी में खासतौर पर यह मानकीकरण किया गया है। मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार के षिक्षा विभाग ने सबसे पहले 1967 में ''हिंदी वर्तनी का मानकीकरण'', फिर 1966 में ''परिवर्धित देवनागरी वर्णमाला'' नामक पुस्तिकाएं प्रकाशित की और तत्पश्चात मंत्रालय के अधीन आने वाले केंद्रीय हिंदी निदेशालय ने 1989 में ''देवनागरी लिपि तथा हिंदी वर्तनी का मानकीकरण'' नाम से एक पुस्तिका प्रकाशित की है जिसमें ऐसे शब्दों का मानकीकरण किया गया है। इस पुस्तक में स्पश्ट रूप से लिखा गया है कि स्थायी, अव्ययीभाव, दायित्व जैसे शब्दों को (जो शब्द के मूल तत्व हैं) स्थाई, अव्यईभाव या दाइत्व न लिख कर यथावत ही रखा जाए लेकिन मानकीकरण की दृश्टि से किए-किये, नई-नयी, हुआ-हुवा जैसे श्रुतिमूलक शब्दों में पहले वाले रूपों का प्रयोग किया जाए। किंतु यह मानकीकरण की दृष्टि से है, इससे दूसरे वाले रूप गलत नहीं हो जाते।
इसकी मानकीकरण के कारण संस्कृत के मूल शब्दों के स्थान पर गंगा, चंचल, पंडित जैसे अनुस्वारयुक्त शब्द लिखे जाते हैं।

रावल साहब, हम सभी मानकीकृत रूप का प्रयोग करने के हिमायती हैं लेकिन इससे हमारी प्राचीन व्याकरण दरकिनार नहीं की जा सकती।

neutral  Balasubramaniam L.: Both are correct grammatically, but for the sake of uniformity ए and ई have been standardised. All careful writers should adopt these forms and help make Hindi simple and expressive. Going back in time can only increase confusion. Please desist.
