Olyan szennyezőatom félvezető anyagokban, amely a kristálynak egy vagy több elektront képes leadni. A donor elektronállapotokat hoz létre a tiltott sávban (szélessége E_g), így a félvezető anyagok elektromos tulajdonságait befolyásolja.
Az donort tartalmazó, egyébként ideális félvezető kristályban a donoron kötött, mozgásra nem képes elektronok száma nem túlságosan alacsony hőmérsékleten térfogategységre lényegesen kisebb, mint a teljes donorkoncentráció. Ezért a szabad elektronok száma jó közelítéssel megegyezik a donorok számával. Ha a kristályban akceptor is található, a donoroktól származó elektronok egy része az akceptorállapotokban fogódik be, az anyag kompenzált lesz.
Elemi félvezetőkben (Si, Ge) donorokat alkotnak a kristályrácsba beépülő, eggyel több vegyértékelektronnal rendelkező atomok (pl. As, P, Sb, N).
