A következőket gondolom (bocs, de itt most átváltok angolra, a marketinget angolul tanultam, így gyorsabb): The "promotional cycle" as a concept somewhat similar to the "product lifecycle" in a sense that the word "cycle" does not necessarily refer to something occuring repeatedly, it simply refers to the changes occuring during the given period (during the life of the product or during the time of the promotion). In other words, it does not refer to the length or the start of the period, but rather to the fact that there are significant changes during that period. There are changes in sales volume, market saturation, etc, and there are changes in the marketing activities during/within the cycle. These can be illustrated by graphs or schedules, etc. A promotional cycle includes not only the period when the actual sales happen, but also a lot of activities before and some even after that. For example, a 2-week Xmas sale can start on Dec 1, but the various promotional activities will begin much earlier. We might think that in this particular case in Éva's text, when they are talking about scheduling cashiers at the store, they might only care about those 2 weeks when the actual Xmas sale is on, however, the promotional activities will draw customer traffic to the store before that, and possibly after as well. That's why I think "időszakos akciók" does not express well enough the broad range of activities, and effects on sales that is included in the original meaning of "promotional cycle". Now, the concept of "product lifecycle" is used in Hungarian marketing lingo, and it is translated as "termék életciklus". Bocs.
