Using three strands for the crown knot forms a diagonally patterned ‘tube’. Tie the knot from above, and ‘build’ with each sequence. To make the knot easier you may want to lay the cords on a table, so that they can be placed the right way without falling out of place.

Il Grande dizionario di marina Sailorato-Picchi dà crown ->piè di pollo a corona. Il Dizionario scientifico-militare Ballerini (link sottostante) indica "a tripla corona". La menzione di un 'tube' nella descrizione fornita come contesto mi lascia un po' perplesso, perché i pià di pollo sono di solito nodi fatti per appesnatire le estremità della cima, ma potrebbe essere appunto riferita alla tripla corona.
