When flying in an airplane, every time you’ve landed and looked through the window down on the engine, you may have seen them: Large flaps opening around the engine housing, releasing the reversed thrust of the engine to aid in the deceleration of the plane. Thrust reverser blankets have a critical function in this process. The thrust reversers funnel hot air at temperatures around 600 – 800 deg F (320 – 420 deg C) through the engine housing to the outside. The thrust reverser heat blankets are mounted on the inside of the thrust reverser and protect the housing structure from these extreme temperatures
