In a patent regarding the manufacturing of a metal-carbonaceous brush, I found the term POT OIL. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Any input would be highly appreciated.

In the present embodiment, the oil is a mixed oil of 95% by weight of the petroleum hydrocarbon oil (a lubricant oil, a *pot oil*), and 1% by weight of the silicone oil.

For the moment, I am opting for olio di lavorazione based on "pot life" = durata limite di lavorabilità, but it's just a guess.

Explanation:
Sono d'accordo con la traduzione "olio di lavorazione", ma come la mia non è ricorrente. Ho trovato anche l'espressione "olio industriale" in relazione agli oli lubrificanti in wikipedia, ma sembra generica

beh, visto che spiega che si tratta di olio lubrificante, penso che pot oil possa corrispondere a "olio motore" se è usato su veicoli

Con il nome di oli lubrificanti si identifica una classe di miscele liquide utilizzate per la lubrificazione di organi meccanici.

Dal punto di vista chimico, sono costituiti da una base di natura idrocarburica e da un insieme di additivi (presenti in genere dal 10 al 30% in volume), i quali possono essere di origine minerale, semisintetica o sintetica.

Nel caso di olio lubrificante utilizzato su veicoli, si parla più specificamente di olio motore.
