Cerco suggerimenti per il suddetto termine IN QUESTO CONTESTO (so che significa misurino/dosatore, ma qui proprio non lo capisco):

"Holly felt a slow shiver at these words. She remembered feeling like she was being watched back in her apartment. She’d been right. Still, the most pressing concern was the metal barrel three feet from her forehead.
She blinked, but kept her gaze fixed on Mr. Birch, her legs still shoulder-width, just in case she needed to move. But Holly was a boxer—usual training didn’t involve disarming multiple assailants in close quarters.
Still, she remained poised in case desperate times came calling for measuring cups.
“You know,” said Mr. Birch, tapping a long finger against his teeth. “I could have you killed right now. [...]"

Presumo che 'measuring cups' sia utilizzato in modo ironico e in riferimento al verbo 'poised' che richiama un bilanciamento, un equilibrio, ma non so bene come renderlo.
