Salve a tutti. Sto traducendo un testo su un hotel in Algeria e trovo questa frase che mi lascia un po' perplessa:

Where the roads follow the contours and cut into the cliffs, The Gorges of the Rhumel River and its tributaries vertical sides are dropping more than 100 miles to the ground.

Forse hanno confuso "miles" con "meters" e intendono che "gli argini degli affluenti si innalzano per oltre 100 metri"?

oppure per essere più specifici : 100 metri dal piano di campagna, in quanto per piano di campagna si intende: Quota presa come riferimento dalla superficie naturale del terreno dove avviene la misurazione degli edifici da costruirsi o costruiti, emergenti dal terreno o interrati, ovviamente tale riferimento ha una certa approssimazione a causa delle irregolarità naturali che presenta il piano stesso.
