How do you fulfill your role as leader with a team as disperse as Field Services (FISE)?

I base my actions on two things. First, to our people in the field we always say, “Guys, if you have problems, call; if you have an issue with the ** Company Man ** or with product implementation, call.” The first thing you have to let your guy in the field, who is supporting the weight of the operation, know is that any action he takes towards the objective of reducing risk will always have our support. And when he does, you call him back and say, “I’m so glad you called,” and you let the whole community know that his call prevented a problem, changed the perception of a customer, won a business deal.

Of course, and we do it with good news and bad. For instance, this year we had a very complicated complaint involving a customer, because someone from our team wasn’t able to handle a conflict situation with the ** Company Man ** and a connection tightening that should have been rejected ended up in the well. Then that well had a problem and the remediation for it cost the customer many millions of dollars.
