I realize that the joke won't have any meaning to a speaker of Japanese who doesn't know the "It's what's for dinner" joke but I would still like this translated.

Also, Kana and Kanji for the translation please, no Romaji

晩飯(ばんめし)はやっぱり弁当。

Explanation:
日本語では”dinner” の訳がいろいろありますよね。夕食、夕飯、夕ご飯、晩御飯、それから話し手によっては”お” をつけてお夕食、お夕飯と言ったり。。。この場合は聞いた感じがいかにも男っぽいので、「晩飯」(ばんめし)と言うのが一番ぴったりな感じだと思いまだと思います。

Example sentence(s):
  • "What's for dinner?"  小さい女の子だったら「お夕飯なあに?」、ティーンエイジャーの男の子だったら「晩飯何?」、中年のご主人が帰って来たら「夕飯何だい?」というところでしょう。
