English term or phrase: the legal reserve and statutory reserves
報告書の中に箇条書きで「the legal reserve 」と「statutory reserves 」という項目が出てきます。前後関係がわかりそうな文章がありません。またこの会社は保険会社ではありません。
どちらも「法定準備金」の訳が見つかりますが、何が違うのか不明です。何か手掛かりになるヒントをいただけますか。よろしくお願いいたしまう。

この2つに違いがないという意見もありますが、ご質問の文書では箇条書きになっているという点からすると、区別して使用しているように思われます。南米諸国では区別があるのかもしれません。

なお、『金融ビジネス用語英和辞典』では"legal reserve"を「法定準備」、"statutory reserve"を「法定準備金」としていますが、意味に違いがあるのかどうかはわかりません。

"legal reserve," "statutory reserves,” "Italian civil code"で検索すると、イタリアの会社の財務情報などがヒットします。やはり区別があるようですが、意味の違いまではよくわかりません。

Legal reserves must be kept in the form prescribed by law and cannot be used to pay depositors.
