English term or phrase: overhead lifting
From a list of definitions in a chain specification sheet. Defined therein as "That process of lifting that would elevate a freely suspended load to such a position that dropping the load would present a possibility of bodily injury or property damage."

What do you think would be a good Japanese translation for this term defined like that? I'm toying with the idea of using something like 頭上玉掛け, but it sounds a bit unnatural (does it?). This, and according to my engineer friends, there's no such concept in Japan - the specifications of the chain are determined only by the load of whatever needs to be lifted and whether it's done over some machines/people or not is irrelevant.

Thank you in advance for any ideas on this.

Ahh, so my initial idea of using 頭上 was correct after all! Some engineer colleagues told me it doesn't sound good, but I'm going to trust a professional translator over them ;) Thank you very much!
