これも航空機用トーイングカーですが、ディーゼル燃料が低温の時にwaxingするといっています。そのまま燃料の蝋化かと思いましたが、どうも違うようです。なんというのでしょうか。

cine-filさんの貼られたReferenceをもとに回答させていただきました。Referenceの中の写真1を見る限りでは、ちょうどロウソクのロウが溶けて間もないような状態のように見えます。Yuki-sanがおっしゃったように蝋化でも良いと思います。因みにガソリンは寒暖によって、収縮したり、膨張したりしますが、ディーゼル燃料（軽油）は蝋化するんですね。

They're looking at fuel "waxing" due to cold temperatures in trans-polar ops. According to a number of aircrews operating in the area that day, the temps at height were the coldest they'd ever experienced (down to minus 70 degrees Celsius).
