For nearly a hundred years, the US produced morw oil than any other nation on Earth. Believing it would never run out of this wonderful energy *goo*, America was Saudi Arabia of the world and acted like it.

 gooを辞書で引いても、「(膠・あめなど)べとべとしたもの, 【2】 いやらしい感傷.【3】俗 鼻につくお世辞,」などとあって、しっくり来るものがありません。
 この筆者は時々typoをするようなので、これもひょっとしたらそうかな、という気もするのですが、その場合何の間違いかがわかりません。
