The reading of the document prompted me to render the last sentence Sasuke-san gives as follows: 「・・・故に事物の存在という点からいえば、まず実体があって、それから行動があるということになる。なぜなら、事物が最初にそれなりの事物として存在しない限り行動はあり得ないからだ。一方で、ヒトの側での認知という点でいえば、まず行動があって、それから実体があるということになる。・・・」 Regarding the title of your question, my understanding is that “for” which precedes the last clause should be a conjunction, not a preposition. And I’d like to represent “essence” here as “実体、本体 or 実在(true substance).” |
