English term or phrase: critical inquiry

ABC Journal is acknowledged as a leading research resource for academics working to advance current accounting theory and practice through interdisciplinary, contextual and critical inquiry.

Explanation:
For interdisciplinary, contextual and critical inquiry, how about

I suppose 探究 would be a more literal translation of "inquiry", but in an academic context "inquiry" feels closer to "analysis"/"research" than "searching", per se. . .

Thank you for taking time to answer my question. I have come across the term "批判的調査” and I think that would work. Thanks.

agree  Minoru Kuwahara: i understand Leochan-san's comment; still, why i'm agreeing to 分析 is that i guess it is all related with research, that is, 研究, in that view, Kimarie is mostly close to what is connoted. -

Explanation:

Asker: Oh, I just closed it like 10 minutes ago because I thought I've found the answer and didn't want to waste anybody's time. But ”考察" is certainly a good option. Also, thank you for the reference.
