English term or phrase: unified communications

Context: "Unified communications (UC) is a business term describing the integration of enterprise communication services such as instant messaging (chat), presence information, voice (including IP telephony), mobility features (including extension mobility and single number reach), audio, web & video conferencing, fixed-mobile convergence (FMC), desktop sharing, data sharing (including web connected electronic interactive whiteboards), call control and speech recognition with non-real-time communication services such as unified messaging (integrated voicemail, e-mail, SMS and fax). UC is not necessarily a single product, but a set of products that provides a consistent unified user interface and user experience across multiple devices and media types.[1]"

Explanation:
Bersepadu is integrated. Unify is to make into one. Compare the meaning of Terminal Bersepadu which means that the different transport methods being 'Integrated' consisting of buses, trains and ETS. One should not translate according to the feel that the phrase is right or wrong BUT being correct.

I have used Komunikasi Bersepadu in the translation that I did a number of days ago, but after much thought, I believe Bersepadu bring different connotation from what the IT field is trying to portray by using the word 'Unification' (Disatukan). However, I do not think there is the need to borrow directly the word itself so far, because Disatukan already in use in some cases.

komunikasi diunifikasi/komunikasi terunifikasi

Explanation:
Saya memilih istilah ini bagi mengekalkan ketekalan dan kejituan.

Tidak dikatakan salah bila memilih "disepadukan" atau "disatukan" tetapi ada istilah Inggeris lebih sesuai contoh "integrated", "united" dll.

Mungkin penterjemah lain lebih arif terutama yang banyak pengalaman dan yang mempunyai latar belakang/latar depan dalam bidang ini. Terima kasih.

Example sentence(s):
  • ...memiliki perkaitan bergabung membentuk pasar dengan aturan yang diunifikasi.

komunikasi bersepadu

Explanation:

Agreeing with your preference as it would be how I would translate the term too. It does sound better than komunikasi disatukan.

In any case, unified and integrated are synonymous, so the sense here is preserved.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Many thanks for your feedback. I understand the concern to stick to existing terms as provided by DBP; however, when I look into one of the service provider of UC, it has similarity with the concept of Terminal Bersepadu, where all types of communications are provided under one 'roof' by the provider: HD Video Calling, Phone System, Audio Conferencing, Instant Messaging, File Sharing, Contact Center. Would really appreciate your kind opinion.

agree  julidiawati: I would use "komunikasi disatukan" as well. IT terms in Malay tend to sound a bit weird as asker said. But that's just how it is.
