English term or phrase: value engineering
The term occurs in English in a Danish text (marketing for an architecture firm) and this is the explanation I found on Wikipedia:

"Value engineering (VE) is a systematic method to improve the "value" of goods or products and services by using an examination of function. Value, as defined, is the ratio of function to cost. Value can therefore be increased by either improving the function or reducing the cost. It is a primary tenet of value engineering that basic functions be preserved and not be reduced as a consequence of pursuing value improvements."

I am debating whether I should leave it in English, like the Danish text does, or try to come up with a Norwegian translation. Danes tend to keep English terms more than Norwegians do. The closest I have been able to come up with is "verdiutvikling", but I'm not sure that it means the same thing. I have found the English term on Norwegian sites as well, in quotation marks.

Does anyone know if there is a common or accepted term in Norwegian?
