tratando-se degravuras artistícas: 'Uma gravura é considerada original quando é assinada e numerada pelo artista dentro de conceitos estabelecidos internacionalmente , segundo os quais , o artista trabalha a matriz de metal , pedra , madeira ou seda com o propósito de imprimir a imagem criada em tiragem de exemplares idênticos , e feita diretamente da matriz pelo artista ou por impressor especializado , mas sob sua orientação . Após aprovar uma gravura o artista tira várias provas que são chamadas P.A. ( prova do artista ) . Ao chegar ao resultado desejado é feita uma cópia " bonne à tirer " (boa para imprimir B.P.I. ) . A tiragem final deve ser aprovada pelo artista , que , então , assina a lápis , coloca a data , o título da obra e numera a série . Finda a edição , a matriz deve ser destruída ou inutilizada . Ao exemplar de tiragem obedecendo estes requisitos dá-se o nome de GRAVURA ORIGINAL . Cada imagem impressa é um exemplar original de gravura e o conjunto destes exemplares é denominado tiragem ou edição . Em uma tiragem de 100 gravuras , as obras são numeradas em frações : 1/100 , 2/100 etc.'
