não há fotos para quais o diretor de arte mexer Explanation: and there are no pictures for the art director to fiddle with => não há fotos para quais o diretor de arte mexer Re: como digo "mexer" Mensagempor Henry Cunha » Sexta Jul 03, 2009 1:52 pm Hi Sophia, You might want to think of "to fool with," or "to fiddle with," as in: "Don't fool with that or you´ll get spanked!" Or "Don´t fiddle with that or ..." "Fool" refers to clown (palhaço), and there´s even the expression "to clown around." The connection to our expression isn´t too hard to grasp. Fiddle is more interesting, because the fiddle is a bowed string instrument, such as a violin. The act of fiddling is to play the instrument. But the connotation of our expression is one of ignorant tinkering with something, no? Maybe this passage from Wiki adds some meaning to the expression? http://www.englishexperts.com.br/forum/como-digo-mexer-t4605... |
